Big Sky Country
Originally designed in 1898, the Montana state flag was officially adopted in 1905,
and has only undergone one change in 1981 when "Montana" was added above the state seal. Centered
on a blue field, the state seal represents the agricultural and mineral wealth of the beautiful
state along with the past and future wealth gained from its natural resources. The Spanish words,
"Oro Y Plata" on the bottom of the seal translate, "Gold and Silver." Montana is known for being
one of the most naturally beautiful states, and natives should be proud to wave this flag for
their home state.
